Coaches have coaches too.
Through our work together we create extraordinary results.  Here's a personal example of my goal to build an environmentally sustainable house on our land in Valley Mills, Texas.

The house is 2400 sq feet, and our energy bill is an average of $70 per month! It has been featured in numerous articles, is a candidate for inclusion in a new book on sustainable building by author Catherine Wanek, and has been visited by many environmentally conscious people who also want to reduce their ecological footprint. The goal came out of longings my coach helped me clarify, namely that I yearn to be a creator of beauty, an adventurer, and a contributor to my community.

Of course as with all goals, I needed a network of support to bring them from vision into action. And wow, did I get supported!  First of all by my husband, Joe, who made my goal his own. Secondly by 35 volunteers from all over the state of Texas who raised the walls in one weekend (This is a house whose exterior walls are made of 18 inch wide straw bales.). Third, by professionals and volunteers who got caught up in the vision.

As with all goals that we ultimately accomplish, there were many challenges which my coach helped us meet.  She showed me that we could have a new relationship to what I called "heavy obstacles."  The result is what you see.  Unique features of this home are:

Many reclaimed materials (all the doors, the wood ceilings among them,)
Many materials from our land (banister, interior stone walls, the "tree" in the bedroom)
Materials used in a unique way (River stones are now "pulls" for kitchen cabinets.  Stained glass shards decorate the half wall made out of straw in the bedroom. Railroad box car flooring…. Would you believe 2 ¼ inch mahogany?!!!... now is the loft floor.)
Earth plaster (sand, clay, miniature pieces of straw, and water) on interior walls
No paints, glues, or other toxins
Ultra-energy efficient European appliances
A geo-thermal heating and cooling system supported by a soap stone wood burning stove with a catalytic converter for clean burning
A state-of-the-art rainwater collection system that provides all our water needs…  Yes, we drink the water.
A wood-fired hot tub in the yard to relax in  under the stars of a clear Texas sky
…and more!

Yes, I'm enthusiastic about reaching this goal.  The thousands of hours of hard work seem more like play, because a goal that's relevant to who you really are in your heart is one you can accomplish with clarity, focus, and ease.
